Bockfest Sausage Queen Competition

On Thursday March 6 at 8:30 PM, Arnold's Bar and Grill, 210 East 8th Street, will host the Bockfest Sausage Queen Competition Finals. The anointed Sausage Queen will walk a lead position in the Bockfest Parade on the following day, carrying the symbolic tray of Bockwurst sausage. The competion will include finalists from the preliminary rounds, held at the following locations:
Friday, February 22, 2008 at 10:00PM, held at Shooters, 927 Race St., Cincinnati, Ohio
Friday, February 29, 2008 at 10:00PM, held at Buddakhan’s Classic Rock Cafe, 713 Vine St., Cincinnati, Ohio
Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 10:00PM, held at Milton’s Prospect Hill Tavern, 301 Milton St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
A panel of "expert" judges (i.e. easily bribed) will determine the best applicant based on the following criteria:
1. Personality: Good traits will include a love of bock beer, a sense of humor, and a taste for meat. The personality round will involve a series of questions posed to the contestants by the judges.
2. Presence: The contestant must look good carrying a sausage and have diva tendencies. The presence round will involve a very short catwalk turn while sporting a string of bockwurst.
3. Talent: Whatever “talent” you think a Sausage Queen should possess is good enough for us.
RULES FOR COMPETITION:
CONTESTANT REQUIREMENTS:

The Bockfest Sausage Queen competition is about putting everything serious aside and having a great time. The venues have been selected to make the competition and Bockfest welcoming to a broad range of people. Shooters is commonly known as “a gay bar” that frequently has drag shows. Buddakhan’s is new to Downtown. It serves a mix of Thai and American food in a warm atmosphere with a classic rock theme. Milton’s Prospect Hill Tavern is a neighborhood bar that attracts a uniquely broad mix of people. And Arnold’s Bar & Grill is Cincinnati’s oldest saloon, attracting everyone from families to local celebrities and an eclectic mix of Downtown residents. We hope that our contestants are as diverse as the venues, and that the Bockfest Sausage Queen Competition becomes an annual part of the Bockfest Season.
Everyone is invited to every event. There will be no admission fee to enter or watch the Sausage Queen competitions. Contestants are encouraged to bring supporters (but probably don’t want to tell their families.)
